There is a fellow by the name of Julian Beever who makes drawings on pavements using a technique called “trick the eye,” and believe me, they appear very real even though they are optical illusions. In other words everything depends on your personal perception of it.
We actually perceive things as we see it in our mind. As an example, some folks appear to be very intelligent until they open their mouth, and then you realize why light is faster then sound. Another is when we perceive something on a desert, and it turns out to be a mirage. One more is when you are on a train that is pulling away from the station, and the station itself appears to be the item moving.
When as a young fellow in my teens, I had all types of perceptions about my life, from being half way good looking, strong, fairly smart, and a few other impressions that I will not list here. As time passed before my eyes, it was not too long in my future that I realized that there were a heck of a lot of other folks that were better looking, stronger, smarter, and more.
Later on, after returning to the states from Germany with the Army, it dawned on me that I had not learned a trade, but my friends told me I was full of BS (baloney sandwiches), so I became a traveling salesman. I still was full of sensations that I would someday travel the United States and a few other countries, but they also went down the drain. Soon, I was feeling rather depressed and wondered it there was something wrong with me. But loving science, I one day came across the following quote by Albert Einstein…”Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.” So I figured if reality is merely an illusion, then my happy self was facing the wrong illusions about myself.
So how do you perceive your life? Of course, we all have problems of different kinds and to one degree or another, but as you know, that is part of life. What matters is how you perceive yourself in handling those problems. Like many folks, you could sit around and complain, or you might trying looking into a mirror, and saying something to the effect as “I have lived all these years, and I have climbed mountains of problems before, and I know that it is not the mountain I have to climb, but to avoid and/or solve getting around the pebbles along the path. that is why I will lay out the plans to solve the problems, ask for help when necessary, and just do what is necessary! Its that simple!
